MM2 JAMES FRANCIS TRITT

Machinist's Mate Second Class James Francis Tritt, who joined the U.S. Navy from Pennsylvania, served aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA 31). On July 7, 1967, as the Bon Homme Richard was in the vicinity of (GC) 48Q YG 975 473, MM2 Tritt was seen by other sailors on the ship's fan tail. That was the last time he was seen. When it was determined he was missing, a thorough search was conducted, but he could not be located. Today, Machinist's Mate Second Class Tritt is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
