On October 14, 1988, Joint Task Force-Full Accounting (JTF-FA, now
DPAA) identified the remains of Captain Robert Harvey Pearson,
missing from the Vietnam War.
Captain Pearson, who joined the U.S. Air Force from Washington,
served with the 389th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On June 11,
1967, he piloted an F-4C Phantom II (serial number 63-7706) on
an escort mission over North Vietnam. During the mission, the
Phantom collided with a friendly aircraft and Capt Pearson was
killed in the resulting crash. Efforts to locate the crash site
of the Phantom or his remains were unsuccessful at the time. In
1988, the Vietnamese government repatriated remains which were
later identified as those of Capt Pearson.
Captain Pearson is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at
the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
