On October 7, 1985, the Central Identification Laboratory-Hawaii
(CILHI, now DPAA) identified the remains of Lieutenant Colonel
Harrison Hoyt Klinck, missing from the Vietnam War.
Lieutenant Colonel Klinck entered the U.S. Air Force from
California and served with the 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron.
On November 19, 1967, he piloted an F-105D Thunderchief (tail
number 61-208, call sign "Fresno 04") on a combat mission
against enemy targets in Ha Tay Province, North Vietnam. While
south of Son Tay, the aircraft was hit by enemy anti-aircraft
fire and crashed, killing Lt Col Klinck. A heavy enemy presence
in the loss area prevented any search efforts, and his remains
were not recovered at the time. In 1985, the Vietnamese
government repatriated a number of sets of human remains to U.S.
custody, and investigators were able to identify Lt Col Klinck
among these remains.
Lieutenant Colonel Klinck is memorialized in the Courts of the
Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
