Dear
POW Network, Please
pass this response to the man who asked about the Japanese web site and
its claims of two Japanese men being Navy SEALs killed in action. Sir, Neither
of the two men named in that Japanese web site are listed in the SEAL
Database (end of WWII to the present day). Neither of those two men are
Navy SEALs. At
a point approximately halfway down the web site, there is a paragraph
headed with the name DEBUTAN OTAKU. If you look closely at the wording
you will see that it has been taken from a news article about a real
Navy SEAL named FREIDWALD who was killed in Afghanistan a year ago…
and the person who assembled this masquerade web page didn’t manage to
delete all of the references to the name “FREIDWALD”. You will also
note the distinctively NON-AFGHANISTAN environment in which the two
Japanese men are photographed. The
text of that web page has been STOLEN from various news articles dated
on/about 14 Sep 2008 about two REAL Navy SEALs who were killed in
Afghanistan. The following is a portion of a news article about their
deaths. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- September
14, 2008 Two
U.S. Navy SEALs died in Afghanistan Taking
the fight to the enemy has cost us two warriors. CORONADO,
Calif. - Two U.S. Navy SEALs died in Afghanistan
Thursday night from injuries they suffered on September 11 during combat
operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Senior
Chief Special Warfare Operator John Wayne Marcum, 34, and Chief (select)
Special Warfare Operator Jason Richard Freiwald, 30, both distinguished
and highly decorated combat veterans, were fatally shot in Afghanistan
during a battle with heavily armed militants. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The
bogus use of the real military credentials and service profiles of two
real Navy SEALs who were tragically killed in action in 2008, and the
HIJACKING of the announcements of their deaths in the line of duty for
use in conjunction with someone else’s photographs is an insult to the
memories of the real men who died. Whether or not the men photographed
wearing military apparel were aware of the use to which their
photographs would be put, the entire display is totally reprehensible,
utterly disgraceful, and absolutely shameful! Respectfully, Steve
Robinson RM2(SEAL)
