Phony War Heroes Break Law, Go Unpunished

The medals pinned on members of our military are supposed to symbolize real-life stories about combat, sacrifice and heroism. The problem is, all too often, those stories aren't true.

Team 5 Investigates has uncovered blatant violations of the Stolen Valor Act, which makes it illegal for anyone to falsely claim to have earned a medal of valor in military service.....

Thanks for checking with us - we greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the

TRUTH.

If the name you provided was spelled accurately, we do NOT have a listing in our database for anyone named Scott Baker. In fact we have only sixteen (16)
men with that last name in our entire database of nearly 10,000 names! None of them have the first name "Scott", and only one man has a middle name
beginning with an "S"... he was a Seaman Apprentice who joined the Teams back in 1969, but got out of the service years ago. We know the first names
and middle initials (and in many cases the full middle names) of all of OUR men... and the man about whom you are inquiring is definitely NOT one of
them.

Our database is thoroughly researched and based on original US Navy records and documentation dating from the present back to the mid 1940's.  Principal
in the compilation of our database are the graduation records for the Navy's Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training program. There is no other
more official resource, and it is certainly the best and most accurate method of verifying an authentic, genuine Navy SEAL.  This is the same
database that SEALs use for authentication among themselves when they are not known to each other.

Our database is held in multiple private hands and has never been subject to any manipulations by the Department of Defense. SEALs who have been removed
from the Teams or have had their SEAL status revoked are listed in our database along with those men whose service is exemplary. We don't delete or
alter records and are not subject to any control by Naval authorities.

Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a full legal name change since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, I can state conclusively that
Scott Baker has NEVER completed SEAL training, and he is not now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL. While there are other steps that must be completed before
becoming a SEAL, BUD/S training is the first and most vital. Without having completed BUD/S training, a man cannot go on to become a SEAL.

I would caution you that despite anything the man might have said, there are NO secret SEALs. Before any classified operations may be undertaken, a man
must first successfully complete the totally unclassified BUD/S Training program. The Privacy Act of 1974 covers distribution of certain elements of
a man's military record - including his Social Security Number, the type of discharge he received (honorable/dishonorable/etc), and his reenlistment
status - but it does NOT cover whether someone attended SEAL training  or not. THAT information is completely unclassified! There have been and will
continue to be secret missions, but there are NO secret SEALs... we know them all, and Scott Baker isn't one of us.

If you were still in contact with the man, I might suggest that you show him this email message. I would invite him to contact me directly by email;
being very interested in hearing him describe all the details of his claimed service as a SEAL. However, since you haven't seen or heard from him in
years, it is unlikely. But thanks for checking with us. If you ever run into any of your old shipmates, in person or online, be sure to tell them the
truth about this imposter!

If you wish to respond to this email message, please use the REPLY TO ALL button at the top of your email screen display. By doing so, you will ensure
that all of the SEAL Authenticator Team members, including myself, will receive a copy of your message. Thank you again for your assistance in
upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams.
