URGENT NEWS - ACTION NEEDED

FEBRUARY 3, 2009

SEE THIS: http://www.carolinalive.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=254846

I contacted the TV Station and also “The State” newspaper to tell them this is going to open a can of worms. Hoping we can get something going in SC on the need for a database. If you have media connections out there, you might do likewise. Below is what I sent both of these news outlets.

Sincerely,

Doug

RE: Story on new SC License Plates. This has become a national problem in terms of the vetting. Most DMVs require applicants to provide a DD-214 or similar military document, all of which are easily faked. Below are links to some stories related to the problem. Note with regards to the problem in Texas, the TX DoT has called for a National Database for quick vetting. I have legislation before Congress to provide just such a database, the Military Roll of Valor Act (see: www.homeofheroes.com/rollofvalor )

I can provide you a photo and military records of a Florida Medal of Honor Plate issued to a phony hero.

There’s MUCH more. I can provide a photo of a man’s Purple Heart License Plate (Current) issued in Colorado, and his records showing he never earned it.

This is a major national problem. See the breaking story out of Illinois involving the PH (but not license plates) at:

===========================================

On January 22, Congressman Salazar introduced the Military Valor Roll of Honor in the 111th Congress. This is legislation that is truly in the best interest of our heroes, our national history, and the members of all political parties.

I respectfully request that you call your local representatives and have them consider joining the more than two-dozen Original Co-Sponsors of this bill in the current Congress, and call for hearings on this matter so that we can move this forward. Attached is additional information on this important bill. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions, need additional information, or if there is any way I can be of service.

Sincerely,
