Doctor who checks credentials faces questions over his own resume

As chief medical officer of Main Line Health, Donald C. Arthur helps vet the credentials of 1,200 physicians working for the prosperous hospital network in Philadelphia's western suburbs.

But the Navy's former surgeon general has long faced questions about the accuracy of his own resumé.

At least four official biographies have credited Arthur with a nonexistent master's degree - one that he agrees he never received.

Over the years, his resumé also has listed a Ph.D. and a law degree from two unaccredited schools, including one that closed after its leader pleaded guilty to fraud. ..... click link

Veteran Sentenced in "Stolen Valor" Case

A veteran was sentenced to 366 days' incarceration and 3 years' probation for making false statements, theft, and wearing unauthorized military medals after an OIG investigation determined that the veteran testified as the hired hit man in a murder for hire case and used his altered military history to bolster his credibility. 

The veteran fraudulently received VA benefits by altering and forging various military records, to include his DD-214.  The veteran claimed to have been wounded in combat and to having earned several medals of valor, to include the Purple Heart and Silver Star.  The loss to VA is $95,088.

A Lawrence County grand jury has brought seven rape charges and four child pornography charges against a 22-year-old Chicago man.

The indictment. filed late Thursday. accuses Juan Miguel Otero of raping a girl between the ages of 13 and 16 in August and again earlier this month in Deadwood. Authorities say Otero was masquerading as a military recruiter to help lure his victim.
