RE:
old stories.
The oldest one I could find on Levy was when he was appointed to oversee the local Army recruiting office in 1978. He was listed as being a member of the city's Beach Patrol then.
The
oldest mention of Levy and Special Forces comes from an Aug. 8, 1980
story titled "Lifeguard Saves Life Of Infant on Beach."
Levy
hopped off his lifeguard chair and saved the life of a six-month-old
child named Monica Marie Gardner, who stopped breathing for some unknown
reason. He got the child breathing with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
"Arthur
Ford, a 33-year-old Atlantic City native who witnessed the emergency,
praised the lifeguards for their performance. 'He came up here like a
bat out of hell and went to work right away,' Ford said of Levy. "I
didn't know what to do. I started praying. Then somebody yelled "I
got a pulse." It felt good to hear that.'"
"Asked
how he felt about saving the baby, Levy said 'I felt great knowing I was
part of keeping another life alive. I was a green Beret in Vietnam and I
guess I've taken a few lives. It feels good to be on the other side this
time."

(From The Press) LATEST NEWS: Sentencing of former Atlantic City Mayor Bob Levy for benefits fraud postponed again Published: Thursday, April 17, 2008 The sentencing of former Atlantic City Mayor Robert W. Levy, Sr. will not happen Friday as originally scheduled. U.S. District Judge Jerome B. Simandle has rescheduled the hearing for 1:30 p.m. June 13. Levy resigned from his top post in City Hall in October amid medical issues and a Veterans' Affairs investigation into his military service record and the benefits he received. He was later charged with fraudulently receiving nearly $25,000 in benefits. Levy eventually admitted that he lied about his military record to government officials in order to receive almost $25,000 in benefits. The 60-year-old former Beach Patrol chief could face as many as five years in prison plus three years probation and a $250,000 fine. Levy's plea agreement says he will have to repay the benefits he illegally received, plus a $100 special assessment. See Friday's edition of The Press for additional coverage. |

I sent the following information to ............... at the beginning of September: (also to ...................... recently)
The campaign flier of Mayor Robert W. Levy you quoted, stated "Levy
won two Bronze Stars as a Green Beret during Vietnam."
My records indicate a PFC Robert M Levy (SN1186XXXX Prefix not
shown on VN Jump Wing orders) in HHC, 5th Special Forces Group in 1968.
I do not have a more specific assignment for him nor do I have any
Bronze Star awards. I do not show a Robert W Levy with 5th Group or the
Special Operation Augmentation.
On the chance that these was a typo on the middle initial, I would
appreciate your effort to clarify the matter. If he is a different
person, but believes that he has been omitted from my list of Special
Forces personnel in Vietnam, he is encouraged to submit documentation.
In either case, copies of the award orders for the two bronze stars
would be appreciated.
I certainly hope this does not turn out to be another case of a wannabee.
I know of one other former SF trooper who became a city mayor and I
would like to add another to that list.
Thank you,
Steve Sherman sends
My database is quite comprehensive regarding Special Forces personnel in
SE Asia 1956-1975.
NOTE: ROBERT WILLIAM LEVY'S SERVICE NUMBER WAS 12700905 |

I was at the military event this evening. The toastmaster (some old gentleman from Florida) introduced him as a person with 20 years of military service, a Green Beret, a former Ranger and the awardee of two Bronze Stars. Levy, at the mike, said the real heroes were the graying soldiers of the 328th Reg. Combat Team, 26th Infantry Division Association in front of him. He made passing reference to Vietnam, read a proclamation he signed, saluted everyone and left....
.... But in all fairness,
the old man was about 85 and did the whole thing cold and w/o notes. Yet,
no one, including Mr. Levy himself, corrected him.

November 06, 2007Name That Party In JoiseyYep! It's time, once again, to play Don Surber's wonderful game, Name That Party. Ut's a game the whole family can enjoy. This time, we're going to Joisey which is trying (and succeeding) in passing Louisiana as the most corrupt state in the US. Thanks to Woody for the link. Atlantic City's former mayor, Bob Levy, admitted Thursday afternoon to lying about his military record to government officials in order to receive almost $25,000 in benefits.
Lying about his military service? Who woul do that? *cough*Flipper*cough* Levy admitted that he falsely stated that he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist's Badge. Furthermore, Levy falsely claimed that he had successfully completed Airborne School and that during the course of his military service successfully parachuted up to 100 times. Levy admitted that he falsely claimed to have injured his shoulder during Airborne School and while participating in military operations. Levy stated that he never completed Airborne School and that he never parachuted from an aircraft during his military service.
So my question is, <DonSurber>Is this dooshbag a Dimocrat or is he a Dimocrat?</DonSurber> Holy crap! I'm channeling Erica
by using "dooshbag".
Comments
Oh come on now Denny. This one is too easy. They never even mention his political party, so by default we already know it. Posted by: Steve on November 6, 2007 01:26 PMI'm guessing the reason you are channeling me is because next to the evil dooshbags who are hit & run drivers [God, I HATE those!], steal from old people, and molest children, I think peeps who lie about their military history and falsify documents in order to procure benefits from the Federal Government are the lowest form of life. Just my opinion, but I think whatever bullshit they make up in papers in order to steal from the tax-paying citizens whose freedoms they once defended now officially disqualifies them from being an American hero any longer. I hold the highest regard for Veterans, but schmucks who do that are about as useful to me as boogah eatin' moh'ron draft dodgers. See, now I'm channeling you. Oy, and he's from Jersey? It'll be a rough day there today for the handful of decent, voting, non-dooshbag peeps there, so I'll go easy on them and reserve further comment. Posted by: Erica on November 6, 2007 01:26 PMWhy would anyone lie about U.S. military service when the DD-214 is so relatively EZ to get hold of? The only reason I can think of is because of that fire in St. Louis at the National Military Records Center a few years ago. Perhaps the crook thinks that they could claim that the NMRC ate his record? I'm betting the guy is Dem (without even glancing at the link). Posted by: DanS. on November 6, 2007 01:32 PM |
