I am a Canadian female who ended up a field medic  and served 6 tours. I am highly decorated and would not mind chatting  with other Vietnam veterans. I am the Canadian Post  Commander for Veterans of the Vietnam War.

Canadian vet recalls Vietnam horror
Injured Niagara Falls woman was on third last helicopter leaving Saigon

Local News - Saturday, April 30, 2005 @ 02:00

....Even if she wanted to, Fast couldn’t go back to Vietnam to make sense of it all. Because she was a ranger for the South Vietnamese, she still has a $10,000 price on her head.

.... She served for two years at a South Vietnamese orphanage, then came home. Two years later, with the war escalating, she was asked to return. This time, she was treating injured soldiers on the battlefield.

Parachuting from a plane, she saw North Vietnamese soldiers firing flares at her. If they could take out the medic, she realized, it would hurt their enemy’s morale.

On that final day, Fast was frantically trying to patch up the wounded as bombs and bullets rained down on Saigon. The North Vietnamese were making one final push into the city and American troops were fleeing.

A mortar shell exploded near her, killing the nun she was standing next to.

Fast was blown into a cathedral wall, shattering her back and right leg. She was dragged by two marines onto the third-last helicopter leaving Saigon.

Fast spent the next two years in a back brace. Because she was in Vietnam so long, she had forgotten English and had to start over.

She was given the South Vietnamese Medal of Honour – one of only 36 given out by a government that no longer exists.

After recovering at the Bethesda Naval Hospital, she returned to a country that didn’t seem to care.

.... Fast moved to Niagara Falls six years ago, and became the first Vietnam veteran to become a member of Legion Branch 51 on Valley Way.

She is also the Canadian post commander for the Veterans of the Vietnam War, an Internet-based support group.....

I am not a fraud.  I have been the Canadian Post Commander continuously since 1990 and have no idea why you can not locate our group.  We were listed via the web  site from VV nW when their web site was lst up and running.  I do not feel that I have to prove myself to you, as I provided proof to Mike Milne back when I joined V V n W.  I also had enough proof for the Legion. I would also point out that one can NOT just go and buy the medals I have.  This is all I am going to say about this matter.....I am NEVER going to go away, and I am not going to be ashamed of my service.

Why not provide a service number and let us get to the truth then.  Your stories are hard to swallow according to many who had Airborne and Parachute training.

If you don't believe me or VvNW Headquarters, I am not giving you my service number. Now leave me alone,

"Sylvia & Rod Fast (Rod or Ron died of cancer many years ago) Both lack credibility as to Service in Vietnam. They may have served with the Red Cross ... and that's about it.
Is she still playing the game? Bummer ... they never fade away ... do they? What Command is she talking about? "

Hello .

My name is Sgt. xxx xxxxx USMC. Myself and some other vets find some problems with Ms Fast's account of her Vietnam tour.... The story she gave about her tours in Vietnam is very bazaar.

Ms Fast told me to get in touch with you and you can verify her military record as she will give us no information or documentation.

tks Sgt

WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT AUTHENTICATE HER LIES.

She refused to provide a service number. We are waiting for 2 other sources to confirm our suspicions of out and out lies, and we will then POST her to the list of fakes, frauds and wannabees.

What a load of garbage! And you're going to become a laughingstock! If you had broken any US law, we'd be going after you in the courts, but all we can do is ridicule you for your lies. You can't prove ANYTHING, and I dare you to try.
One positive thing, though; you don't have to be ashamed of your service, because you didn't serve (at least not as you SAY you did). What a fraud. Are you the "lady" who wrote a book of phony "poetry," by chance?
