Jody Dowell joined the service on January 1, 1975. He trained at the
recruit depot in San Diego and 29 Palms CA . He was transferred to Camp
Pendelton on May 22, 1975 where he was a Field Radio Operator. He
maintained his FRO duties when transferred to: Aurora, CO on December 31, 1975 El Toro, CA August 8, 1975 APO San Francisco November 11, 1976 Yuma, AZ December 21, 1977. He MOS was STILL Field Radio Operator upon his discharge August 04, 1979. |

....I've never heard of an "AW 143 INTERSP" and there's no such thing as a CH-69 or a CH-72. The Marine Corps still uses Cobra's and I believe is about to accept a new model of the Cobra.

I use to fly the "COBRA" but they took those out of service. I've been in the CORP. for about 16 yrs. now, flying choper's every since. I slept for 17hr's straight, got up, ate, went to a briefing, then back to bed. Where I slept for another 11 Hr's. Just had another med check. And I'm "ok", 100% check, and ready to go again. A 50 cal. or two penetrated the starboard side of my canopy, during our engagement at the battle of KUNDUZ, ON Wed, the 14th.The bullets, snap my control cable, to my vert. and horiz. aft rotors. Then penetrated my canopy, one bullet, just cut throw my right knee, just broke the skin. The second bullet, just nicked my right shoulder, again just broke the skin. I call them scatches! both putting out mayday call's, code blue! We really didn't think we'd make it back! As of today. I've been assigned a new CH-72, #131, My new,old bird AW-43 # 79, is to badly damaged, to be repaired here. I was put on medicial watch list, just to make sure my cuts didn't get infected, ========================================= Subject: THANKSGIVING; I was released from sick-bay, 100% ok. I've done some flying, up and about in my new bird.We where getting ready again for the big battle over KUNDUZ, Well, we're on the move again. I gave my notice to Celestica, they have to hold my job for me now, until I get back. Then I'll have the operation. If you say anything to Celes. or the marine corp, you could hang me out to dry.
