July 2002 note:
Carl James Epperson Jr. has an outstanding
felony warrant for his arrest in Faulkener County, AR, among other
states, and it is the Faulker County Sheriff's Department ;
Officer Deputy Lasker at 501-450-4915 with any information regarding his
whereabouts. This man is extremely dangerous and violent
.....He has taken ........close to a quarter of a million dollars in
cash and credit card fraud ...

I disagree. This is an incredibly shifty and clever individual. The
apology offered is nothing more than a sop to get you off his back.
I
am in a position to observe this individual on more or less a daily
basis, and I assure you he has not changed one bit -- he is still
perpetuating the notion of being a former POW, Navy Seal, etc to any and
all that will listen to him. He is even writing about his
"war
experiences" in his .... class.
He is simply waiting for you all to back off and forget about him, at
which point he will slither back into his former imagined ID. This
is
a sick and dangerous individual, and he needs to be under observation
before he hurts someone again.

FYI - earlier in this mess we had notified the local area with
our standard "fraud alert" (local vets groups, police,
sheriff, school, VA,
non-profit groups, city hall, TV, radio, ROTC, newspapers etc) -
so even as he's backing down - they are all aware and are
watching him.

Had the pleasure of talking to XXXXX this evening. He will
personally inform Admin, and the Dean of the false claims, first
thing in the morning. XXXXX is also a student of Dr.XXXXX, and will
discuss this with him also. XXXXX ALSO knows the MOH at the VA
in charge of POW services, and will be calling him to fill him in on the
possibility the man is getting VA POW care under false pretenses.
XXXXX was very grateful there are those looking out for the honor
of the vet - know he will carry through on this and prevent the man
from
being honored at services and ceremonies....

Just talked to campus security - Lt xxxxx (2-10 shift).
Oddly enough I was not the first call on him today - auditor called re:
Epperson too.
Seems he told someone he was "working" for the University. In making that statement, campus security started checking. IF he
had been
he would not have been for long "with his criminal history"
....
They are now aware of your situation and are there should anything be
bothersome on campus. xxxx did ask if we were aware of any
other
"harrassment" I said no - .........
The Lt thought Eppeson "living with the wife of an absent,

James Epperson Jr, -- his comments regarding his captivity as a
Vietnam former Prisoner of War and research results.

"he escaped on his own. He said that a dog
had fallen in the hole he was in in the ground and he killed it and ate
it. Said he saved the rib bones and made a weapon. When 2 soldiers came
to get him out, he killed them and escaped. Spoke of torture done
to him, said they removed his toenails. Said he was on the run for
2 weeks before coming across a marine unit. Said that he went to
Reed, Bethesda and then Balboa. Said that he was hospitalized for
2yrs. The man is disabled now. He does have access to the base and
all of it's facilities. He said that he was a Seal and his last
rank was Lt. Commander. ... He said that he was jumping from a
Helicopter and he and another man were captured, the rest of his
unit or patrol were killed." The Professor's name
where he announced in class that he was a POW is XXXXXXXXXXXX
Epperson has made the comment several times that he will not use the
VA Hosp. here in Little Rock. Said since there is no Military
hospital
within 100 miles, that he doesn't have to utilize the VA and can
go where he pleases. That the VA Hosp isn't any good and
"doesn't trust
them."

According to all available records from the United States
Government, posted publicly on the Internet, Mr. Epperson was
never held, captive,
escaped, detained, rescued or missing in action for 2 hours nor 2
days nor ANY AMOUNT OF TIME during the Vietnam War. He was never
on covert ops, secret missions, his papers were not burned in St.
Louis, nor did he beg to be kept off the lists for privacy sake.
He is not a "lost Sheep" nor a member of the group of
legitimate returnees -- and we have contact with all of them. As
he has made statements to this effect, he has disgraced the honor
of the many that served, the families that still wait, and those
that have returned.
Please feel free to call the Pentagon and verify the above statement,
at 703-602-2102 ext 169. Mr. Larry Greer heads the office of
Missing
Service Personnel. We have also contacted the President of the
organization of returnees, Capt John Michael McGrath, USN RET,
former
POW -- keeping him informed of the progress of this investigation. .....
WITHOUT Mr. Epperson permission, we have requested his military
records. We can GUARANTEE, no POW/MIA status will be found. In
addition, if Mr. Smith wears medals he is not entitled to, has POW
plates on his car, is receiving VA benefits under this guise, or
has altered his DD214 - he may be subject to Federal prosecution.
If he continues to insist on his legitimacy, and does not admit he
is lying - he will find himself on the HALL OF SHAME among the
many other phonies and wannabees.
Epperson also claims to be a retired LCDR and a former SEAL. While
awaiting the military records, we only have hard data showing he is NOT
a former SEAL or POW. We have no evidence he did or did not serve in the
military. At the Naval Special Warfare Archives, there is a database of
every person ever graduating from BUD/S or UDT/R (the old name)
training. Epperson is NOT on there and nobody has ever heard of this
him.
It might be simpler for the XXXXX Department to have his records pulled
and copies sent to the University. AT THIS TIME, a veteran carried copy
of a DD214 IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE evidence of service, awards, training
or POW status. These documents are too easily forged. Evidence must come
directly from the Pentagon or St. Louis Military Personnel Records
Center.

his training. He also says he owns 12 guns and a bow, and that he is an
expert at all weapons.

Epperson has been convicted of a felony, and is not supposed to have
any firearms. Also, the Vilonia police are keeping an eye on him
Epperson told them he was a University Employee...according to Lt. xxxxx.

FYI--- Epperson lives with a woman that works at XXXXX. She may have
access to letterhead and forms. If so, there is a possibility
that documents could have forged. Epperson claims he needs a wheelchair,
he rides in one at school ... have seen him walk 200yds+ with no
problem, and carrying an additional 20 lbs. to boot. He says that the
woman he lives with is a buddy of his (who is in the service) wife, and
that he is staying there while his buddy is out on deployment.

There are many people he has told that he was a POW. Dr. XXXXXX said
that he had XXXXX about being a POW prior to orientation day. ....
he was in cohert operations with the CIA, something called Air
America. Said that the CIA ran drugs and guns during Vietnam War. Said
he was a hit man for them executioner. Claims he killed over 600
specific men in Vietnam, both white and vc said he was a high level
assassin for the CIA.. said he works black hops. covert op 6. was in
Cambodia , Laos and North Vietnam. He has a bullet in his leg now, says
that he fought Navy to stay in went all the way to the Pentagon. 2-5
time out of going to airports he gets stripped searched because he can't
pass inspections.
Smart bombs that hit accurately in Desert Storm was because a Navy
SEAL was in proximity with a hand held radar for missile man. Said he
left 100 men in Desert Storm. When you escape from a POW camp, you never
take anyone with you because one can make it two won't. Said that POws
who they (vc) were going to release got fed properly, heads shaved, beds
and medical treatment. Other's were still abused severely.
On way back from Vietnam went to Hawaii said he was jet lagged, flew
into SanFran. He went to Balboa because he refused to go to any other
hosp. He wore nothing American when he was there was listed as MIA for
19 months. You get used to things. says time heals all wounds, vn
doesn't bother him anymore. You become immune to killing. A matter of
fact everyday thing. He killed a 3 yr old child because he had a bomb on
him. Did not have a unit, had a TEAM. He took dexadrines to stay awake
in the field because he couldn't sleep for days at a time.

He said no, no action has taken place YET, he anticipates soon. I asked
him about Eppersons criminal record. He put it to me like this. "He
has a lengthy criminal history" I told him I had figured out fraud,
possible burglary and some sort of sexual deviancy. The Capt. said,
" your perceptions are not far off the mark.
1964 rape conviction, 1968, 1970, ..........several, last conviction
was 98 and last arrest was 5/99 for DWI. The man has approx 20 arrests,
if not more....

At first glance your email surprised
me,
What a small world.
Anyway, Epperson has told many stories to ......... announcing his
POW/MIA status to his entire xxxxx class.
He had also written an essay for his xxxxxx teacher that was
about a personal story about when he was in VN.
Bob xxxx was the person that originally got the info on Epperson's
criminal history. The Vilonia Police new of him because they had
recently stopped him for a traffic violation. His permit to drive was
revoked. Evidently Epperson was arrested in April for drunk driving.
....his last jail time was in Jacksonville, AR (Pulaski County) in 1998
for credit card fraud. Epperson had also told the Vilonia Police that he
worked at the University, they called to verify. That is how the campus
police first came to know of Epperson.
He likes to go to all of the games at school and hangs out in the
student center and the computer lab in Herrin Hall. He also likes to go
to the Fraternity and Sorority parties.
In one conversation with Epperson, he couldn't remember the name of
his anti-depressant. But did state that the Dr. has to monitor his
medication closely.

Dr. xxx was telling me about the CyberSEAL website and I
thought I'd check out Carl Epperson's story's I heard as a boy before
entering the Navy. This sorry SOB spread more BS ..... than all the
other people ...... combined.
This POS has faked more injuries than I've seen in 8 years of
doing sick call! I called xxxx and told him to check out the web
site and he was shocked, but not surprised, to read what was there. He
has told all his state patrolman buddies and they all said, and I quote,
"I can't fxxxxx believe it!"
