THOSE CLAIMING MEDAL OF HONOR
NOTE: In 1996 HLI Lordship
Industries (at the time, the OFFICIAL USG contractor for the Medal of
Honor) admitted selling THREE HUNDRED unauthorized medals for $75.00
each from 1991-1994. They were fined $80,000. NOT ALL of those medals
have been recovered. Offenders in possession of an
unauthorized medal can be arrested, fined (up to $10,000) and jailed
(up to a year). It is the only military medal that CANNOT be bought,
sold, bartered, traded, collected, auctioned, exchanged.... EVERY
Medal of Honor is awarded by act of Congress. Less than 150 REAL Medal
of Honor recipients are alive today.

Painpoet (skip
biography)
I would have a hard time putting my work into one catagory. My writing
depends a lot on my moods or whatever strange thoughts may pop into my
head. I am a former Green Beret who has mellowed a lot through the
years. I have lived through the turmoil of the sixties, the degradation
of the seventies and eighties and the greed of the nineties. I draw on
all of these experiences in my writings. I have seen death up close and
personal have loved, lost loves and have at times just given up. I
have come to realize that I cannot control other peoples actions but can
control my reaction to them. Life is so much simpler since I discovered
this truth. I find joy in the simple things in life, a fresh morning
breese, gentle sunset and just holding that someone special. My poetry
is far reaching from the tradgedy of war to the gentle flight of a
butterfly. Keep reading my work you never know just what is goin to pop
into this empty space between my ears.

I have read a few of your works..some about
Vietnam..they do not ring true.to me as a Vietnam vet myself..your words
are hollow and have no feeling..they are the words of a man that is
exspressing something he knows nothing about..the poem Napalm sounds as
if you watch apocalypse now then tried to write a poem that would place
you there..not good.. (reply?)
I just finished reading some of your
comments on others poems..well untill I threw up then I quit
reading...you say your 51 yet you went to Vietnam in 1968 for 2
tours...you do realize that you were only 14 in 1968 right?..the you
must have left around the age of 17 what with 2 tours and all..then you
were a merc.in Rodiesia..you did not say how long..thank God... you were
a green beret and on an A team, and sniper. Going by the time line of
you being born in 1954 the only way you could have seen combat in

and as for me a combat wounded Vietnam Marine vet I find your stories
and that is all they are ugly and rude...you have no respect for

Allegations of misrepresentation leveled against WPD officer
Christina Childs
cchilds@weatherforddemocrat.com
Weatherford police officer and owner of Texas Tactical Tommy
Taylor is having a hard time understanding why so many Army Rangers are
angry with him.
It was a clerical error he explained, that brought on the wrath of the
special forces unit, and one not even made by his own hand.
But according to former Army Ranger and Army Ranger Instructor, Mike
Moore, it’s much more than a clerical error, it’s a matter of honor
and integrity.
Moore, along with a number of other current and
former Army Rangers, became aware of a Texas Tactical Web site, in which
Taylor was listed as a former Army Ranger and distinguished Purple Heart
winner.
After checking a military database, Moore, along with retired Army
Ranger Sgt. Major Andrew Bell, found the Web site’s claims to be
false, thus sparking an uproar among those who truly carried the title.....

Army: Soldier's story
doesn’t add up
YC man’s claims about Purple Heart, Iraq, rank refuted
 Brenden
Teetsell
2008-02-15 23:51:00
Brenden Teetsell was a U.S. Army soldier serving his country when his
body was found Feb. 7 on a military base in Germany. He loved the
theater. His energy could light up a room.
But the 20-year-old Yuba City man wasn't awarded the Purple Heart his
mother thought he'd received, he wasn't injured in Iraq as a friend
said Teetsell had claimed, and he wasn't an Army captain as he told
members of a Butte County church.
"We have looked at his file and we have nothing that shows him in
Iraq or Afghanistan. So he would not have received a Purple
Heart," Shari Lawrence, an Army deputy public affairs officer in
Washington, D.C., said Friday of Teetsell, who held the rank of
specialist. "We have strict guidelines as to what qualifies for a
Purple Heart."
Lawrence said she doesn't know if Teetsell or someone else told his
family that he'd been awarded the military honor.
"It's hard to watch the family go through it," Lawrence said
of their learning the truth. "There's nothing we can do to make
it better."
"In this particular case it's doubly sad because of everything su
rounding it," she said of his death.
The body of Teetsell, a longtime Yuba City resident who as a youth had
appeared in numerous local theater productions, was discovered this
month hanging by a bedsheet in a stairwell at the U.S. military base
in Mannheim, Germany, an Army spokesman said. The death is under
investigation.
In an Appeal-Democrat story published Thursday, Adele Robinson spoke
of her son being awarded the Purple Heart and how "he was
proudest serving his country."
Family spokesperson Stephanie Ruscigno said Friday night that Robinson
is in seclusion, recovering from major surgery and suffering greatly
from the loss of her only son.
Ruscigno, commander of the Disabled American Veterans chapter in
Yuba-Sutter, helped organize Sunday's Celebration of Life service for
Teetsell.
"He chose to serve his country and we're going to honor
that," Ruscigno said. "He accepted the torch of freedom
willingly and this does need to be honored."
Yuba City resident Eric Bufford, 35, served a decade in the Army and
reserves and knew Teetsell from the Yuba City Church of the Nazarene.
Bufford said he mourns the loss of his friend — but decided against
wearing dress greens to the service Sunday for Teetsell.
Bufford said the Army uniform represents honor and integrity — and
that he works with other veterans who were awarded the Purple Heart, a
decoration that must be respected. "It's something you don't
tread lightly on," Bufford said. "He can't get away with
taking credit for something he didn't do."
Army spokeswoman Lawrence said awards such as the Purple Heart are
taken very seriously.
"We guard very jealously the awards because they are
special," Lawrence said. "You can look at the soldier and
look at the awards and pretty well tell his military history."
Dave Montoya, an associate pastor at Paradise Alliance Church, where
Teetsell spoke last Sept. 23 — and whose church Web site with its
archives of sermons Montoya said the U.S. Army accessed — found the
young man something of a puzzle.
"He definitely had many faces," Montoya said.
In Paradise, he was Army Capt. Teetsell, thanking church members who
prayed "for me or my troops," noting the cane he used
because of an injury and leading the congregation in "something
we do in Iraq — we call it the Iraqi prayer circle."
The church's senior pastor, Larry Shelton, in his September sermon,
said that a news clip, slogan or video is sometimes how people learn
about a soldier's sacrifice. So it was wonderful having Teetsell, as
he recuperated from his injuries, "here in our midst to realize
it's real," Shelton said.
But "Capt. Teetsell," who talked with church members about
having been awarded a couple of Purple Hearts, turned out not to be
real, said associate pastor Montoya. The pastor, who comes from a
military family, said suspicions had grown in Paradise about Teetsell.
"He portrayed himself as being Mr. Top Secret," Montoya
said. The soldier spoke of having numerous security clearances —
talk that someone with such authority wouldn't make, Montoya said.
The associate pastor said one of the tragedies of Teetsell's story is
that the significance the soldier sought is something everyone wants
— but that Teetsell didn't need to overstate his rank to achieve
importance.
"We would have honored him in front of our congregation as a
specialist," Montoya said. "We were just honored to have one
of the troops."
Brownsvillle resident Robert Hechtman, 79, who directed several plays
that Teetsell appeared in, is honored to have known the Yuba City man.
"He didn't perform on stage," remembered Hechtman. "He
exploded."
"It makes me sick that he's gone," Hechtman said. "I
don't care if he was a captain or he wasn't. I don't care if he served
in Iraq or not."
"I'm proud that he served his country," he said of Teetsell.
"I want to remember him as a kid who wanted to be liked."
A celebration of life will be held Sunday for Yuba City resident
Brenden Teetsell. The 2:30 p.m. service will be at the Crossroads
Community Church, 445 B St., Yuba City. The hearse carrying Teetsell's
casket will travel west on Seventh Street from Lipp and Sullivan
mortuary in Marysville, turn right on H Street, left onto Highway 20,
over the Tenth Street bridge into Yuba City, left on Shasta Street and
across Bridge Street.

MICHAEL NEWSOM/SUN HERALD
Frank Thayer was the third man in a week to be arrested for allegedly
lying about receiving military honors.
Federal officials arrested a Gulfport man Tuesday for allegedly making
false claims about serving in Vietnam and receiving a Purple Heart.
Frank Thayer, 59, is the third area man in a week to be arrested and
charged with lying about military service and honors.
In an affidavit, Thayer admitted to Veterans Affairs special
investigators that in spite of owning a Purple Heart medal with ribbon,
a Bronze Star with ribbon, an Army ring, commander's pilot wings,
seemingly official documents and clothing bearing Purple Heart patches,
he had never served in the military nor received any medals. He said he
bought the medals at a military surplus store.
Thayer admitted creating a motivational DVD celebrating his service that
he sold to civic organizations. He told a former girlfriend all his
military papers were destroyed by Katrina.
"He was tricking everybody. It's just an insult to true military
veterans. It's an assault on them," said Assistant U.S. Attorney
Ruth Morgan, the Gulfport-based prosecutor of the case.
Thayer was released on $25,000 unsecured bond. He faces multiple
charges, and could receive up to 6 months in prison and fines of $5,000
per violation, said Morgan.
Last Tuesday, Christopher Billeaud, 52, of Gulfport, and John Wayne
Lebo, 57, of Tylertown were arrested on charges of lying about receiving
Purple Hearts and other military medals. Billeaud's wife spoke on his
behalf in an interview last week, denying all charges.
Special Agent John R. Ramsey of the VA and the FBI have been involved in
all three cases. Ramsey said in a telephone interview that he could not
comment on the cases, or whether these arrests were part of a crackdown
on military fraud.
Originally, only those who faked receiving a Medal of Honor, the highest
award given by the military, were culpable by law. But in response to
rising claims of military service fraud and the publication of the book
"Stolen Valor," by B.G. Burkett, the Stolen Valor Act of 2005
made false claims of many military medals punishable by law.
According to Diamondhead's Henry Cook, national commander of the
Military Order of the Purple Heart, "It's in fashion to be a war
hero again." Requirements for earning a purple heart can be found
at purpleheart.org.
He said fraud is frequently uncovered when people apply to join his
organization, and the VA's attention to the matter is "a
turnabout."

GULFPORT, Miss. -- A Gulf Coast man has been sentenced to a year's
probation for making false claims about earning military decorations
and medals.
Federal prosecutors say Frank Thayer made false verbal and written
representations that he had served in the military and been awarded
the Purple Heart.
Prosecutors say the 59-year-old Thayer purchased Purple Heart and
Bronze Star medals without legal authority.
A federal judge sentenced Thayer on Monday to one year of probation,
50 hours of community service, and a $2,000 fine.
Court officials say the proceeds of that fine will go to the Biloxi VA
Hospital for the care of real Purple Heart recipients.

There is only one Marine to earn a
Navy Cross at that time and he was 2Lt. James V. McDaniel.
From an expert on the MAYAGUEZ:
- The USS Blue Ridge did not
participate in any of the combat action around Koh Tang during the Mayaguez
Incident. There were some late-comers that showed up after
the smoke had cleared, but they did not engage.
- The
Marines involved in Mayaguez came from Okinawa (9th
battalion) and a company from the PI also was involved. No
Marines joined from Udorn, and we were already out of Vietnam.
- He
would have gotten his commission at 20 YOA...no way.
- I have not ever heard of battlefield
commissions being given out during the Vietnam War.

Topeka Man Wants Shorter Sentence Due to SEAL Service
11:14 AM Sep 26, 2006
AP
A Topeka man accused of killing a passenger when he lost control of his
truck says he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from his
time as a US Navy SEAL.
Glenn Triebwasser was convicted of involuntary manslaughter under the
influence of alcohol last month. He also was convicted of driving on a
suspended license, failure to maintain a single lane and a seat belt
infraction.
He was behind the wheel of the truck when it rolled over on
Interstate 70 in Topeka last year, killing 40-year-old Billie Jo Baldwin
of Meriden.
His lawyers are arguing Triebwasser should be given a shorter sentence.
But the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, California, says
his name doesn't appear in the Navy's records of SEALs. Coronado is the
primary training facility for the SEALs.

I
confronted Trimble years ago about his lies to others about his “Green
Beret” exploits. This was in 1994 at the
Georgia
Public
Safety
Training
Center
in
Forsyth
,
Georgia
. Trimble continues to lie and steal the identity of others who really
did serve and went through and graduated from the arduous training.
Trimble’s lies are known as the ”Stolen Valor Syndrome.”
After I confronted Trimble about his Special Forces exploits in
Iraq
he “quieted” that portion for a while, then started telling people
he was a SEAL. After 9/11 he became a “Green Beret” again.

Public Lives: Chandra Thomas on the people shaping our city
Crash Course
A year later, Grady Memorial EMT Tony Trimble reflects on the
Bluffton University bus crash and questions the future of the embattled
hospital.
Tony Trimble hadn’t even had time to pour his usual morning cup of
coffee. He’d reported to his shift as a paramedic at Grady Memorial
Hospital at 5:30 a.m. on March 2, 2007. The call came in at 5:35.
“We were told we had a bus wreck,” says Trimble, forty-nine, a
self-proclaimed “country boy” who still lives in his hometown of
Jackson, in Butts County. “We didn’t think much of it. We handle
MARTA wrecks all the time.” As he and his partner, Brian Sheplar,
looped around I-75 in their ambulance trying to get close to the
accident site, they learned that the situation was much worse than
they’d anticipated. A charter bus carrying thirty-five people had
crashed through a concrete barrier at the Northside Drive exit, then
plunged thirty feet to the southbound lanes below. The driver apparently
mistook an exit ramp for a high occupancy vehicle lane.
Trimble, a paramedic with thirty-three years of experience, wasn’t
rattled. After all, the former Army medic and
Green Beret who received his basic EMT license at sixteen had worked
other major emergencies, including the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park
bombing.
First to arrive on the scene below the overpass, Trimble and his
partner pulled up and sprinted toward the shattered bus encircled by
shards of glass. Trimble crawled inside in search of victims. “I
always get recruited to get in the small spaces ’cause I’m so
short,” quips Trimble in a thick drawl. “The front windshield was
completely gone, so I crawled through. It was pitch black. I couldn’t
see in front of myself.” Even by the dim glow of his flashlight, he
could tell the scene was grim. “The driver and his wife were dead,”
recalls Trimble. “I saw a player lying on the floor with his arm
trapped in the window frame. I talked to him a few minutes, then wrapped
him up in a blanket. Then I worked my way to the back. I found another
one who had a trapped leg. Another one was dead; he was trapped beneath
the bus.” ...

Very
interesting! In 1991, Mr. Trimble went through our Special Forces
Assessment and Selection program, but failed the physical fitness test.
Therefore, he was not selected to attend the Special Forces
Qualification Course, which you must complete to earn the Green Beret.
Our Academic Records Office verified this information.

... If the name you provided is spelled correctly, I do NOT find a
listing in the SEAL database for anyone named JAMES
A. “TONY” TRIMBLE. Be aware that I have also examined
possible alternate spellings, and names with similar pronunciations. In
fact there are NO LISTINGS FOR ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME “TRIMBLE”
IN THE ENTIRETY OF THE SEAL DATABASE (10,700+ records).
Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a legal name change (an
action for which there would be court documentation) since his claimed
service with the SEAL Teams, and based upon the information you have
provided, I can state conclusively that JAMES
A. “TONY” TRIMBLE has NEVER completed SEAL training, and
he is not now, nor was he ever a US Navy SEAL or UDT “Frogman”.
Please be aware that the SEAL database includes the names of all men who
served with the Underwater Demolition Teams (“Frogmen”). Since 1983
when the UDTs were all re-commissioned as SEAL Teams it has been the
convention within the Naval Special Warfare community to use the modern
term “SEAL” when referring to all men who ever served in any of the
SEAL ‘precursor’ units....

TURNER, Chastity - Camp Arafjon, Kuwait with the 2123rd Transportation Unit
(HET).
Unfortunately, there is a problem
with Turner's story, you see, she has never
left Kuwait to go on any missions. She is a liar.
The only time she left Kuwait while deployed was to come home on R
& R. .....
it is Chastity's fault and she needs to come clean and apologize
to the Veterans, the VFW, to you, and to the good people of
Maysville, publicly.

WHAT DO WE CALL THIS CATEGORY????
Army officials
present truth
regarding soldiers story
By:
BETTY COUTANT, News Editor
Submitted: 10/9/2004
Since
the populace of the United States faced the truth about the
way our country mistreated returning Vietnam veterans, even
those who protested subsequent wars are quick to say they
still support the troops.
We are now more appreciative of the sacrifices made by the men
and women who wear the uniform, follow orders and place
themselves in jeopardy. We call them heroes whether they faced
the first flying bullet or spent the entire time behind a desk
in a support position.
It's a wonder then why a returning veteran would lie about
their role in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, but that's
just what authorities said Chasity Turner did.
On leave in August, SPC Turner was honored with a picnic lunch
by the Simon Kenton post of Maysville's VFW.
Though much of the things Turner spoke about were mundane,
like the boredom, the sand and the difficulties of living in a
city of tents, she also told of two skirmishes.
Turner, who is stationed in Kuwait, said she had gone on
convoys into Iraq four times. The unit was attacked twice, she
said.
Her commanding officer Capt. Kristal Schloesser, called The
Ledger Independent after reading the story on-line and also
sent an e-mail.
'I realize that you may not always do fact checking on all the
articles that are published in your paper, however, I wish you
would have for this particular article,' Schloesser said via
e-mail.
'I am the company commander for 2123rd Transportation Company
and would like to clear up some things about Chasity Turner,
one of my soldiers. I would love to talk to you about this
because I don't know if her words were turned around or
misinterpreted,' Schloesser wrote.
After her own investigation Schloesser made the following
comment.
'SPC Turner's job here is as a supply specialist. She has been
tasked to do different duties around our local base camp in
Kuwait. She has never been on a convoy and has never been into
Iraq,' Schloesser said.
Turner was contacted and offered the opportunity to retract
her statements, but instead indicated she was being coerced
into changing her story.
Not willing to help the Army deny a soldier her First
Amendment right of free speech, The Ledger Independent spent
the entire month of September, trying to discern the truth.
National Guard Spokesman Lt. Col. Phil Miller was contacted,
and after gathering the facts, confirmed Capt. Schloesser's
position.
As a result, The Ledger Independent is retracting the story
that ran August 30.

Turner
proves war not just a man's game anymore
By:
BETTY COUTANT, News Editor
Submitted:
8/31/2004
It
used to be a man's game. Ironically, the part of the world that
values women least has made war women's work as well.
Spc. Chasity
Turner of Maysville's 206th Engineer Battalion, returned to the
area for a short visit and was honored at a picnic Saturday.
The picnic
was hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Simon Kenton Post No.
2734 Ladies Auxiliary at Rotary Park.
Turner will
return to Kuwait in early September to finish her tour.
The
transportation specialist stays mostly in Camp Arifjan in
Kuwait, but is sometimes tagged to cross the Iraqi border to
deliver heavy equipment.
The real
deal
On two of
those missions the convoy was attacked by insurgents.
The attacks
lasted about 15 minutes, but because of the adrenaline, the time
seemed much shorter, Turner said.
'It's
exciting, and it gets your adrenaline going,' Turner said. 'An
IED (improvised explosive device) went off and it blew out the
windows of the trucks in the front and back of the convoy.'
The
insurgents are not well equipped or well trained, Turner said,
and the attacks they make serve more to harass than harm the
coalition.
'They put
them (IEDs) in everything. There's trash everywhere, and they
put them in everything like coffee cans,' Turner said.
After the
explosion it is the practice of rebels to begin small arms fire,
which is also pretty fruitless, Turner said.
'They have
RPGs (rocket propelled grenades), and they'll fly down on either
side of us,' Turner said.
They're not
much better with guns.
'They've got
AK47s. I don't know how you miss with an AK47, but they often
do. We're just lucky they're not smart.'
Some bullets
manage to hit the trucks, however.
'You could
see the sparks coming off the trucks (when bullets hit),' Turner
said.
She said the
training kicks in under those circumstances.
'I got
focused because I didn't want to die. You scan your lane and you
pay close attention. Then you turn it into like the movie
action,' Turner said. 'You stand your ground and when you get
out (of the danger area) your body just gives. It took 15
minutes for all of us to get through, but it seemed like only a
minute.'
The enemy's
ineffectiveness is a blessing, she said, and why the attacks
continue baffles her.
'We're just
fortunate they don't know what they're doing. I don't think they
even know what they're fighting for. I know I wouldn't try
anymore (in their position),' Turner said.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
She said her
male counterparts treat the women with respect and the women do
all they can to keep it.
'There's not
any female in our unit that slacks. They all bust their butts,'
Turner said.
'Our boys
are very good to us,' Turner said. 'They become your family.
They don't look at you like you're a girl, they look at you like
a sister.'
It's easier
for the men to come to the women when they are having a problem
or are homesick, Turner said.
'I'm like
their therapist. They talk to me about who's fighting with each
other, and they ask me 'Will you do this for me? Will you do
that for me?''
She said the
hardest part of being away from home is how much the children
grow. She's been gone eight months and has another four to go.
She's an
aunt and is quite close to her cousin's children.
'Oh my gosh,
it's the worst part,' Turner said as her 2 -and a half-year-old
nephew Jackson Hardin climbed into her lap.
'It just
hits you in the face when you see them,' she said.
She helped
care for her cousin's twins, Kolton and Kasey, when they were
born 15 months ago.
'When I got
home, Kolton was holding his own bottle. I cried and cried; that
was an image that will never go away,' Turner said.
Food for
thought
Coming in
close second is the food.
'We have the
same thing over and over again. The green beans aren't even
cooked, they just pour hot water over them,' the soldier said.
When it got
close to time to come home, the food was all she could think
about.
'Just the
thought of eating real food...' Turner said. 'I miss the food. I
stopped eating for about three weeks before I came home.'
Thoughts of
the food she would eat invaded her head and made it impossible
to stomach Army grub.
'I kept
thinking of Applebee's, Friday's and deSha's,' Turner said.
The
specialist said 'bathrooms' also leave a lot to be desired.
Since the shower tent is a good piece from the living area, a
trip to the bathroom can take quite a while if you forget
something like shampoo.
'You have to
get dressed again and walk back to the tent then back to the
showers,' she said.
Forget the
showers though, she wants a nice hot bath.
'I want a
bath tub where I can lie down.'
Turner will
return to Kuwait soon for another four months. She said she
appreciates the support the people of the area have shown.
She grew up
in Aberdeen, Ohio, but spent as much time in Maysville.
VFW
Commander Sam Spradling wants Turner to join the post when she
returns.
'I told her
she could join then run for commander in April,' Spradling said
only half joking.

.....Turner arrived back

no sympathy for her as she brought this on herself consciously making
a decision to tell a lie.
