Claims he was a  P.O.W in 1966 but can't recall the exact date. Stated that he was a "Detainee" and was on TDY (Temporary Duty) in Viet Nam - hence no record of his captured status.

Jerome Pagell popped up years ago.  He was trying to pull a scam on the VA.  We heard that one VA official bought his phony story and listed him as a POW.  At the time, he was claiming that he was a POW for three years. 

Claims POW. He was wearing a Vietnam POW hat with the medical symbol and spoke at length of serving as a prisoner of war for 26 months some odd day's and even down to the hour. Claimed  he spoke 7 different languages, knew the exact time and date he was repatriated, had 4 collage degrees, claimed to be blind, complained of the VA not giving him care (he deserved)...

Ronald lee Paul drives a white van with a New York plate  number 308 former prisoner of war.

Currently driving a mini van with vanity plates with POW plates and claiming to be a former POW.

Arlington Heights, IL 04/02 Claims time in Hanoi Hilton with former POW Sen. John McCain.  McCain attends HIS reunion, so he is not impressed with those seeing Joe Galloway at reunions. Pavlik is employed at EXPO DESIGN CENTER in Schaumburg, IL. At Grand Opening in 2001 - he had the gall to stand and introduce himself as a Vietnam POW returnee. He disgraces all the TRUE heroes employed by HOME DEPOT.

Claims "former POW." Claims Silver Star, DFC, Bronze Star, 21 Air Medals, 4 Legion of Merit, 2 Purple Hearts.

Spoke as "former POW" September , 2002. Noted in Patrick Air Force Base magazine. Also noted in his MOAA chapter newsletter as "shot down 4 times, captured, escaped and walked out to freedom." Claims 600 flying hours and 697 combat missions as FAC.

Col (ret) Harry Pawlak claims to have been shot down as a FAC in 1965 with a short time as a POW.

Records indicate Silver Star, ONE Legion of Merit, Air Medal with 20 devices, NO Purple Heart, NO Distinguished  Flying  Cross. 

Vietnam service 7 May 65 - 2 May 66 as FAC.

Claims to have been an USAF E-5 paramedic who was shot down near Haiphong in a UH-1.  He claims to have been captured in July 1968 and to have spent 5 years in captivity until 1973. 

03/2008  - Claims to have known John McCain very well while confined.  Claims to have been wounded when shot down and had both legs broken and not set right by the NV.   Also claims he was in Army and after coming home from Hanoi, joined the Air Force and retired.  Also claims he flew aircraft to and from S. America doing drug buys for government "Agencies".   He works for L-3 Communications on government military contracts.  He holds a security clearance and has access to classified information.  Still in Arlington Texas.

PEREZ, JOSE . 03/2009 ....ran across a document, a flyer of a symposium held in 1994 which has the name of Staff Sergeant Jose Perez who according to the document was a former Vietnam War POW/ Texas Army National Guard F Company 149th Aviation.  .

Can't remember the name of the ship he served on, but he claims he flew on a helicopter into VN as a flight crew member, and upon landing, he shot a VC in the woods!  Claims to have been a helicopter mechanic.

He states his DD214 is incorrect and he can't get it corrected because his records were lost in the fire.

Claims 2 tours in VN, once he was in the hospital - has never said why.

Also states he was in the ARMY or National Guard as a SSGT.

States that he was a POW!

At one point, stated he couldn't join the VFW because his DD214 was not correct;  but now says he belonged to the VFW in New York, but resigned because they weren't doing things right! 

He is now a member of the American Legion. He constantly tells the other members "war stores" about himself in VN; wears military clothing, POW bracelet and has told numerous friends that he is retired Military - he in fact is retired from Civil Service! 

He constantly reads any true military stories, books, etc. and buys videos about VN.  

Told a deputy sheriff that he was a Federal Marshall in New York!  

Also stated that his first wife and two children were killed in a car wreck while he was in the hospital during his second tour of Nam.  Reports state his REAL wife, JoAnn, says that he left his first wife and kids and never paid child support or expressed any interest in seeing them, even after they were grown and of age.
