SP4 VALENTINE BERNARD VOLLMER

Return to Service Member Profiles

On March 23, 1976, the Central Identification Laboratory-Hawaii (CILHI, now DPAA) identified the remains of Specialist 4 Valentine Bernard Vollmer, missing from the Vietnam War.

Specialist 4 Vollmer entered the U.S. Army from Wisconsin and served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. On February 16, 1968, his unit encountered enemy forces in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. He was killed during the resulting engagement, and his remains were not recovered at the time. In 1974, the North Vietnamese government repatriated a set of remains that U.S. analysts identified as those of SP4 Vollmer.
